I started out back in May doing this @mckirdytrained McKirdy Mile as a way of keeping a goal in front of me and to have fun since COVID-19 was changing mine and everyone else’s plans. I haven’t trained for just a mile since I began running 5 years ago. And most of my training the last few years has been for really long distances. So my first attempt last month was 8:08 mile. I’ve steadily improved since that first attempt and today was the final of the four race series.
My friend and coach @jim_burrows_runs has really been helping me dial in my times with some awesome training workouts and we met for this last one at the Neuse River Trailhead outside Raleigh. Wow! It went awesome. We both PR’d our mile. I finished at 7:34 which is an 11 second improvement over last time and a whopping 34 second improvement from the first time!😎 Who would’ve thunk that a mile race could be so fun?! This has been an awesome series. Thank you @mckirdytrained for putting this together. And thanks coach for helping me be a better runner! 😎
