2018 Trophy Trot

Had an awesome time at the 2018 Trophy Trot 10k in Raleigh on Thanksgiving Day!  It was a chilly 34 degrees at the start but there was a great turn out and I even saw a turkey! 🙂

2018 Adopt-A-Cop 5k

⠀⠀

We had a great time today at the 10-43 Adopt-A-Cop 5k! I got a new PR by almost one minute! It was great to see several of my LEO friends out there and especially glad to have my sweet wife there. This makes three PRs in the last 3 Saturdays for me! @honeystinger helps power me to those PRs! 🐝Thank you Jaime Southerland Ackley and all the others who made this race possible. We definitely back the blue in our house!!!😎👮‍♀️🐝⛄️🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻

2018 Swamp Fox Ultra

I had a blast running the 14 miler at the 2nd annual Swamp Fox Ultra. I had a much faster time this year over last year’s race! We started out at 6am (sunrise is at 7:37am there) and ran a little over half of it with headlamps which is fun and interesting.  Literally gets you back to the ‘roots’ of trail running😂. Several roots tried to trip me but that’s ok.

2018 Ocean Isle Half Marathon

Well we did it!! It was chillier than forecasted originally. It was about 50*, dark, cloudy, and windy with about a 9-10mph wind blowing (felt that alot when crossing the causeway bridge twice). There were 2500 runners out there and a lot of excitement!! I originally wore a black 1/4 zip long sleeve shirt over my T-shirt and I knew better. I took it off while running between mile 6 and 7 as I felt like I was getting overheated. I handed it off to Lisa as I passed back by her (she had already finished her 5k and was waiting at the point where I had told her we’d be coming through between mile 7 and 8). Even with all that, my Janji shorts and Altra Torin shoes got me to a PR!!

2018 TriSpan 10k in Downtown Wilmington

Finished the 36th annual TriSpan 10k!!! I looked back on last year’s time for Lisa and I and she finished 4 minutes faster this year and I finished 13 minutes faster! This is a very challenging race. The 5k that Lisa did goes over 2 bridges and the 10k I ran is the only 10k on the East Coast in which the course goes over 3 bridges, two of which are draw bridges with the metal grating which is tough on the ole feet! I’m very proud of my wife and pleased with my improvement as well.

2018 Home Run 5k

Wow! I placed in this fun 5k which benefits Free Will Baptist Children’s Home. I got 2nd place in my age group and had a lot of fun. Hilly race was a fun challenge! Thank the good Lord for the opportunity and ability to run!!!

2018 Petersburg Half Marathon

Lisa, Chris and I got a cool pic with some civil war re-enactment soldiers after the finish. All three of us PR’d our race today. Great finishes for us all!!! I ended up running my fastest half marathon yet and was only 1 minute from my goal time which is good considering it is by far the hilliest and toughest one I’ve done.

2018 Color Your Heart Glow Run

Lisa and I were so excited to run this fun Glow Race in my hometown of Mt. Airy, NC. We were especially glad to run it with several of our family, my sister Nicole and bro in law, Billy, and their kids as well as my brother Chris and sis in law Kim. Mom and Dad got to also come out and watch us for the first time ever which made it extra special!!
