2019 Hallucination 6 hr Trail Run

I had a terrific time at the 2019 Hallucination 6hr Trail Run down in Moncks Corner, SC this past Saturday! Chad Haffa and @eagle_endurance always have great races in scenic locales. I’ve done the Swamp Fox 14 miler the last two years and volunteered at this race last year. These are fun and challenging events.

At the beginning of the race I thought I had set my Apple Music exercise/running playlist to play and when I tapped my Bluetooth headphones instead it began playing random songs and started with Karen Carpenter singing ‘Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire!’ I thought well this is just great and laughed at myself. I went with it for the first loop😂.

This event featured a roughly 2.25 mile loop on a Mountain Bike Trail with hills and curves and all kinds of fun stuff. A lot of it was single track too. The weather started a little cool but turned out perfect. I hadn’t planned on much more than my marathon training plan called for, but my brother had challenged me a little before the race and Chad said he wanted to see what I was made of so, of course, I had to represent Johnston County, North Carolina well!😎. According to the official results, I came in 9th overall and 7th among males in the 6Hr run with 24.75 miles!

My brother Chris finished 4th with 29.25 miles! I am so excited to have exceeded my goals for this run and it has me wanting to jump into some ultras later this year. If you’ve never participated in an @eagle_endurance event or an ultra I highly recommend you check them out!! My Altra Lone Peak trail shoes were terrific. Thankful for a great time and for my Honey Stinger fuel🐝. And the slightly sore quads are worth every mile!! 😎🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻
