2019 Boston Marathon

Well, after training since the second week of December with a general goal similar to Rocky in the first movie of going the distance (this was not only my first Boston Marathon, but my first marathon in my relatively young running career) I finally caught my first official unicorn even if I almost had to fall on him to catch him! 😂.

I wanted to finish faster but I will next time! The heat and humidity were unexpected after hearing about washout rain and cool temps all weekend but that’s part of it. The one big lesson I learned is you don’t finish Boston by yourself… like the song says you have to ‘have a little help from your friends’.

Big thank you to my wife Lisa for supporting me and getting me back to our room in one piece (got a little motion sick on the subway afterwards). And thanks to @kristinrunsmiles and her family for all the advice, helping my wife get to Framingham, and being just generally kind to us newbies. And thank you to Mikie Pylilo for the entertaining laughs. Thank you @massmentoring ,CT Ransdell, and my teammate Sheree Dunwell for the opportunity to represent your great organization and what you stand for in helping kids with adult mentors. Also, last but not least, thank you to Hopkinton, Boston and all the towns in between for every cheer, high five, Orange slice and encouragement because ultimately that helped keep my legs turning when it got really tough. Thank you @bostonmarathon I will see you again!!💛💙🦄
